Chrysoberyl
Duarte & Bastos markets cabochon-type Cat's-Eye Chrysoberyl, in oval and round shapes and in several sizes, which are extracted from our mine and from other major Brazilian mines.
Cat's-Eye Chrysoberyl, also known as Cymaphane Chrysoberyl, is a greenish-yellow stone, sometimes slightly grayish, and has a pattern of thin parallel channels, which produce an intriguing wave effect.

Occasionally confused with the Cat's-Eye Quartz (which generally has a different color and less transparency), this stone is highly regarded by experts and collectors, and the best specimens command a high market value.
Synthetic reproductions are non-existent. But, natural stones that are used as imitations - as it is the case of Fluorite and the Cat's-Eye Quartz - possess different characteristics, especially color, hardness, or different density, which make differentiation easy.
