Topaz
Duarte & Bastos produces the best colorless and blue Topazes, treated or bombarded, in rough and polished forms, and in several formats and sizes, most of which come from the company mine.
As these gems are sold at reasonable prices, Topazes have been widely used in jewelry production with excellent results. At Duarte & Bastos, the client can find the best Topazes produced on the market, including specimens in large sizes and without inclusions. The most frequent shapes are the oval and rectangular, but they are also found in pear shapes (teardrops) and in mixed shapes generally called fantasy.
The colorless Topaz almost never presents inclusions, and thanks to its abundance, there is a wide variety of choices. This stone is not imitated nor produced synthetically, and the best way to distinguish with certainty is through refraction rates. Using radiation processes, the stone turns blue and is practically identical to the natural blue Topaz.
The blue Topaz has a homogeneous color, which distinguishes it easily from the Aquamarine, and a higher color intensity means a higher value. It is similar to the synthetic blue Spinel, but, with careful observation, it is possible to notice its birefringence, which doesn't occur in the other stone.
